General Secretary, National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey is a distinguished Ghanaian economist, politician, and strategist who currently serves as the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He is widely known for his intellect, oratory strength, and uncompromising loyalty to the principles of social democracy.
Born on June 2, 1967, in Nogokpo, Volta Region, Fiifi Kwetey’s early education began at Bishop Herman College in Kpando and continued at Achimota School for his Advanced Levels. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon, and later obtained a Higher Diploma from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paris in 1994.
Before entering frontline politics, he worked as a financial analyst, investment consultant, and stockbroker, holding roles at Strategic African Securities Ltd and CDH Financial Holdings. His background in finance would later shape his data-driven approach to policy and governance.
Fiifi Kwetey first rose to national prominence as the Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, where he became known for his eloquence and sharp defense of party policies during the difficult years in opposition. His strong communication skills and ability to simplify complex national issues earned him respect both within and outside the party.
He was elected Member of Parliament for Ketu South in 2013 and went on to serve in several key ministerial positions under Presidents John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama, including:

Minister for Food and Agriculture
Minister for Transport
In 2022, Fiifi Kwetey was elected as the General Secretary of the NDC, succeeding Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia. His leadership vision is focused on restoring internal discipline, strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, and ensuring that the NDC remains a credible and united force for national development.
Throughout his public life, Fiifi Kwetey has been an advocate for economic empowerment, sustainable agriculture, and transport modernization. He believes that political leadership must be anchored on integrity, truth, and the people’s genuine welfare.
As General Secretary, he continues to emphasize strategic reorganization, youth engagement, and ideological clarity—guiding the NDC toward reclaiming power and delivering social justice for all Ghanaians.
