Dr. Bissiw began her political journey as a passionate advocate for women’s inclusion in national decision-making. She joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and quickly gained recognition for her forthrightness and grassroots appeal.
She served as Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing from 2009 to 2013, and later as Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture (in charge of Livestock) from 2013 to 2017 under President John Dramani Mahama.

Following the NDC’s 2024 victory, President John Dramani Mahama appointed her as Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) in February 2025, tasking her to oversee equitable distribution of mineral royalties and community development in mining regions.
